Sambawan Island is a cluster of three connected islets southwest of Maripipi, a small island municipality in Biliran Province. Coordinates place it at approximately 11°45'57" N, 124°15'48" E. The islets are joined by narrow sandbars at low tide, with the largest featuring a forested hill that can be trekked for panoramic views of the Visayan Sea. The combination of beach and elevated terrain makes it a versatile destination for both relaxation and light outdoor adventure. It is accessible by boat from Naval, the provincial capital of Biliran, or from Maripipi. The LGU manages the island's eco-tourism facilities, which include comfort rooms with fresh water showers, overnight cottages (PHP 500 to PHP 2,500), open nipa huts (PHP 500 to PHP 1,000), and tent pitching areas at PHP 100 per tent per night. An entrance fee of PHP 80 and an environmental fee of PHP 20 apply per visitor. Electricity is available from 6 PM to 6 AM only. Potable water must be purchased on the island at PHP 25 per 4-gallon container. Dogs are not allowed. A caretaker can cook meals for groups for an additional fee.
