Cancellations & Refunds

Plans change. We get it. This guide explains every cancellation policy used on Camps PH, how to cancel your booking step by step, when you can expect your money back, and what protections apply when a host cancels or a typhoon forces you off the trail.

1. The Three Cancellation Policies

Every campsite listing on Camps PH uses one of three cancellation policies, chosen by the host and clearly displayed on the listing page before you book. The policy in effect at the time of booking confirmation is the policy that governs your reservation.

Flexible

  • Free cancellation window: Cancel at least 24 hours before your check-in time and receive a full refund of everything you paid, including the Camps PH service fee.
  • Late cancellation: If you cancel less than 24 hours before check-in, or after check-in has begun, the first night's campsite fee is non-refundable. Any remaining nights are refunded in full.
  • No-show: No refund is issued if you do not arrive and do not cancel.

Moderate

  • Free cancellation window: Cancel at least 7 days before your check-in date and receive a full refund of everything you paid, including the Camps PH service fee.
  • Cancellation within 7 days: If you cancel less than 7 days before check-in, the campsite fee for the nights already passed plus the first night are non-refundable. Remaining nights are refunded in full.
  • No-show: No refund is issued if you do not arrive and do not cancel.

Strict

  • Partial refund window: Cancel at least 7 days before your check-in date and receive a 50% refund of the campsite fee only. The Camps PH service fee is non-refundable.
  • Cancellation within 7 days: No refund of any kind is issued if you cancel less than 7 days before check-in.
  • No-show: No refund is issued.

The Strict policy is typically used for high-demand or remote sites where last-minute vacancies cannot be quickly re-booked. Always check the policy badge on the listing before you confirm.

About the Camps PH service fee: The service fee is refunded in full on Flexible and Moderate cancellations made within the free-cancellation window. It is non-refundable on Strict policy cancellations and on any out-of-window cancellations across all three policies.

2. How to Cancel Your Booking

All cancellations must be submitted through the Camps PH platform. Messaging the host directly does not constitute a cancellation and does not start the refund process.

  1. 1

Log in to your Camps PH account.

Go to My Trips from your profile menu.

  2. 2

Find the booking you want to cancel.

Select the upcoming reservation from your trip list.

  3. 3

    Click "Cancel Reservation."

The platform will display the refund amount you are entitled to based on the listing's cancellation policy and how far in advance you are cancelling.

  4. 4

    Confirm the cancellation.

You will be asked to select a reason for cancelling. Review the refund summary, then click "Confirm Cancellation." The cancellation is final and cannot be undone.

  5. 5

    Check your email for confirmation.

Camps PH will send you a cancellation confirmation and a separate refund notification with the expected return date. The host is automatically notified so they can re-open availability.

Need help? If you cannot complete the cancellation through My Trips — for example, if there is a technical issue — contact Camps PH support at [SUPPORT_EMAIL] before your check-in time. Include your booking reference number.

3. How and When Refunds Are Processed

Once a cancellation is confirmed by the platform, refunds are processed automatically to the original payment method used at booking. Camps PH does not issue refunds by cash, bank deposit, or any method other than the original payment channel.

Credit or debit card

Refunds typically appear within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your card-issuing bank. Some banks may take up to 15 business days to post the credit to your statement.

GCash or Maya

Refunds to GCash or Maya wallets are typically returned within 3 to 7 business days. You will receive an in-app notification from your wallet provider when the funds are credited.

Refund processing timeline: Camps PH initiates the refund on the day of cancellation confirmation. The time between initiation and the funds appearing in your account is controlled by your payment provider, not by Camps PH. If more than 15 business days have passed without a credit, contact your bank or wallet provider first, then reach out to Camps PH support if the issue is unresolved.

Currency: All bookings and refunds are in Philippine Pesos (PHP). If you paid with a foreign-currency card, your bank determines the exchange rate applied at the time of the refund credit; Camps PH is not responsible for exchange rate differences.

4. Host-Initiated Cancellations and Guest Protections

Hosts are required to honour confirmed bookings. If a host cancels your reservation, you are automatically entitled to the following protections regardless of which cancellation policy the listing uses.

Full refund, no exceptions. When a host cancels a confirmed booking, you receive a 100% refund of everything you paid — campsite fees and Camps PH service fee — processed to your original payment method within 5 business days.

Rebooking assistance. Camps PH support will assist you in finding an alternative campsite for the same dates where availability allows. Contact us at [SUPPORT_EMAIL] with your original booking reference.

Host penalties. Hosts who cancel confirmed bookings without a valid reason may have their listing ranking reduced, face suspension from the platform, or be required to pay a cancellation fee to Camps PH. Repeated cancellations may result in permanent removal. These measures protect the reliability of the marketplace for all campers.

If you believe a host cancelled your booking improperly, or if you arrive at a campsite and find it materially different from the listing, please report the issue through the Camps PH app or contact support within 24 hours of your scheduled check-in. Camps PH will investigate and determine whether a refund outside the standard policy is warranted.

5. Typhoons, Natural Disasters, and Force Majeure

The Philippines experiences typhoon season from roughly June to November, and severe weather can make camping unsafe or impossible without warning. Camps PH maintains a Force Majeure and Severe Weather Policy that can override standard cancellation policies when extraordinary circumstances prevent a safe stay.

What qualifies as force majeure?

Circumstances that Camps PH may classify as force majeure include, but are not limited to:

  • A typhoon signal of Signal No. 2 or higher issued by PAGASA that covers the campsite location or any transit route necessary to reach it.
  • Flash floods, landslides, or volcanic activity that render the campsite inaccessible or officially closed by local government authorities (LGUs).
  • A government-declared state of calamity or emergency affecting the campsite municipality or province.
  • Earthquakes or other natural disasters that damage the campsite or make travel to it unsafe.
  • Public health emergencies declared by the national government or the Department of Health that restrict travel or gatherings in the campsite area.

Personal reasons — including fear of bad weather that has not reached PAGASA alert thresholds, traffic, or a change of plans — do not qualify as force majeure.

How to request a weather or force majeure cancellation
  1. Cancel your booking through My Trips as you normally would (see Section 2 above).
  2. Select "Severe weather / force majeure" as your cancellation reason.
  3. Email [SUPPORT_EMAIL] with your booking reference number and a link or screenshot of the official PAGASA bulletin, LGU closure advisory, or other government-issued notice confirming the condition.
  4. Camps PH will review your request, typically within 2 business days, and notify you of the outcome. Approved requests receive a full refund regardless of the listing's standard cancellation policy. Partial approvals are issued when the force majeure event covers only part of the booking period.
What refund can I expect?
  • Approved full-period force majeure: 100% refund of campsite fees and service fees, processed within 5 business days of approval.
  • Approved partial-period force majeure: Refund for the affected nights only. Nights already completed before the qualifying event are non-refundable.
  • Not approved: The standard cancellation policy for the listing applies.

Hosts are not penalised when a cancellation is approved under the force majeure policy, as the event is beyond their control.

Safety first. If you are already at a campsite and a typhoon or emergency develops, prioritise your safety and evacuate if directed by local authorities. Each campsite page lists the nearest local emergency services. You can also find emergency contact information at /emergency. For life-threatening emergencies, call the national emergency hotline 911.

6. Common Questions

Can I modify my dates instead of cancelling?

Yes. Go to My Trips, select your booking, and choose "Change dates." Date changes are subject to availability and the host's approval. If the new dates carry a different price, you will be charged or credited the difference. A date change is not treated as a cancellation and does not trigger the cancellation policy — unless the host declines the change request, in which case your original booking stands.

The host is not responding. Can I still cancel?

Host responsiveness is not required for you to cancel. You can cancel at any time through My Trips without the host's involvement. The platform applies the policy automatically. If a host's repeated unresponsiveness affects your stay, please report this to Camps PH support.

I was charged a partial amount. What is non-refundable?

The exact breakdown is always shown on the cancellation confirmation screen and in your email receipt. As a general guide:

  • Flexible and Moderate policies within the free-cancellation window: full refund including service fee.
  • Flexible late cancellation: first night 's campsite fee is withheld; service fee is non-refundable.
  • Moderate within 7 days: first-night campsite fee and any nights already elapsed are non-refundable; service fee is non-refundable.
  • Strict within the 7-day window: 50% of campsite fee refunded; service fee non-refundable.
  • Strict inside 7 days: no refund.
My refund has not arrived after 15 business days. What do I do?

First, check with your bank or GCash / Maya provider, as some institutions process refunds internally before posting them to your account. If the refund is confirmed as not received after 15 business days, email Camps PH support at [SUPPORT_EMAIL] with your booking reference and the cancellation confirmation email. We will trace the refund with our payment processor and resolve the issue.

Can I dispute a cancellation outcome?

Yes. If you believe the wrong policy was applied or that special circumstances were not taken into account, contact Camps PH support within 14 days of the cancellation. Include your booking reference, the reason for the dispute, and any supporting documentation (for example, official PAGASA bulletins or medical certificates). Disputes are reviewed by our Trust & Safety team, and you will receive a decision within 5 business days. For full dispute resolution terms, see our Terms of Service.
