Kalanggaman Island is a 6-hectare coral island located 10 kilometers west of Palompon, Leyte, in the Camotes Sea. It is best known for its long, curving white sandbar that extends over 795 meters into crystal-clear turquoise water fringed by coconut palms. The island is managed by the Local Government Unit of Palompon under a strict 'high-value, low-volume' eco-tourism model with a hard cap of 500 visitors per day. As of January 2024, the overnight fee for Filipino nationals is PHP 225 per person, covering entrance and conservation fees. Advance reservation through the Palompon Eco-Tourism Office is mandatory; walk-ins are denied. There is no electricity on the island and no source of potable freshwater — campers must bring all food and drinking water from Palompon. The LGU has installed native shelters, comfort rooms, and a small medical station. Police presence is maintained. Camping tent rental is available from the tourism office in Palompon (PHP 300 for a tent good for 2 to 4 persons). The 'Trash-in, Trash-out' policy is strictly enforced, and the use of chemical products including soap and shampoo is banned on the beach.
