Mount Hamiguitan, at 1,620 metres above sea level, is the centrepiece of the Mount Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary in the municipalities of San Isidro, Mati, and Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental. Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014—the first in Mindanao—the mountain is renowned for its mossy elfin forests, the dwarf forest zone called Tinagong Dagat (Hidden Sea), and a remarkable concentration of Philippine endemic species including carnivorous pitcher plants and the Philippine Eagle. The typical trek is 3 days and 2 nights, with eco-campsites featuring solar toilets and regulated water sources set along the route. Access is strictly regulated: only 30 hikers may occupy the campsite at any time, advance booking is required at least 10 days before the climb through the PAMB Headquarters, and walk-in or unguided trekking is prohibited. The trekking fee is PHP 3,000 per person for non-residents (discounts apply for Davao Oriental residents at PHP 1,500, students ≤18 at PHP 1,500, and senior citizens at PHP 2,400). Porter and eco-guide fees are PHP 500 per day each. DSLR camera use costs PHP 500 and drones PHP 1,000.
