Mt. Pulag (2,926 MASL) straddles the borders of Benguet, Ifugao, and Nueva Vizcaya and is the highest mountain in Luzon and third-highest in the Philippines. The Ambangeg Trail, departing from the Babadak Ranger Station near Kabayan, is the most popular and beginner-friendly route, ascending through mossy pine forests and dwarf bamboo grasslands to two designated campsites. Camp 2, roughly 2 km below the summit, is the main overnight spot and has a natural freshwater source. Access is strictly regulated by DENR through the Protected Area Management Office (PAMO). Walk-ins are prohibited; visitors must secure online reservations, submit a physician-issued medical certificate, pay the DENR entrance fee (PHP 100/person for residents), a green tax (PHP 25/person), a camping fee (PHP 50/person/day), and a mandatory guide fee (PHP 1,200 per group of 1–5). Campfires are banned. The site is famous for its sea of clouds at dawn and the vast mossy grassland ecosystem protected under Republic Act 7586.
