Mount Maculot (957 MASL) in Cuenca, Batangas, is a dormant stratovolcano on the rim of Taal Caldera, making it geologically significant and visually spectacular. Its most iconic feature is The Rockies — a 700-meter-high volcanic rock wall at 706 MASL that offers arguably the best unobstructed view of Taal Lake in the entire province. Two trails access the mountain: the western trail starting at Barangay 7 (most popular, leads to the campsite and the Rockies), and the eastern Grotto trail starting at Barangay Pinagkaisahan. The wide campsite sits between the Rockies and the summit, reachable in roughly 1.5 hours. Overnight camping at the designated campsite was recorded at PHP 800 for 1–5 persons (plus PHP 100 per additional person) in older documented rates, though visitors should confirm current fees at the barangay registration point in Cuenca. A mandatory registered guide is required for all climbers. The mountain is rated 4/9 difficulty and is one of the most popular hiking destinations in Batangas, especially accessible from Manila. The traverse route connects Barangay 7 to Barangay 5, a 4-kilometer trail.
