Cagbalete Island Beach Camp

Cagbalete Island is a 17.5 sq km island administered by Mauban, Quezon, located in Lamon Bay off the eastern coast of Luzon. The island is celebrated for its vast, powdery white sandbars that emerge dramatically at low tide, shallow reef-fringed shores, and a largely undeveloped coastline lined with coconut palms and mangroves. Camping is the dominant way to experience the island, with several small family-run beach resorts offering tent pitching areas, basic nipa hut accommodations, and generator-powered electricity during daytime hours only. The island's remoteness — roughly 5–6 hours from Manila — preserves its quiet, unhurried character. Visitors must register at the Mauban Tourism Office at the port and pay a mandatory environmental fee of PHP 50 per person before boarding the public boat (PHP 50–100 per person one way). Tent pitching fees at individual resorts are around PHP 250 per head (which typically includes the resort entrance), and tent rentals cost PHP 500. Different resorts have their own entrance policies (Villa Cleofas PHP 50, Pansacola PHP 250, MVT Sto. Niño PHP 100). Activities include swimming over extensive tidal flats, snorkeling on nearshore reefs, island-hopping to smaller neighboring islets, and kayaking. The island has no ATMs; all transactions are cash only.
